Intel itself is actually a little behind the competitor company, Qualcomm, in terms of launching a 5G modem chip. The reason, the company has introduced a 5G modem chip since two years ago.

Intel's decision to develop a 5G modem chip for a longer period of time was not without reason. Because, Intel offers a comprehensive solution through this modem. XMM 8160 does not only offer 5G connectivity. But older network technologies, such as 4G, 3G, including 2G. In this way, Intel can also offer a more compact chip size.

This makes the chip size more compact so that it is suitable for smaller smart devices, not just smartphones. In addition to its compact form, this 5G Intel modem is capable of sending data at speeds of up to 6 gigabits per second, six times faster than current LTE.
