Scallop 2 is More Sophisticated

Starting 2019, Kate Spade released a smartwatch called Scallop. Precisely the Smartwatch Scallop 2.
Hearing his name, indeed the label is familiar. Kate Spade did launch a smartwatch with the name Scallop, but the device only features design. While the existing features are still very limited. Now, the fashion brand from New York, the United States is releasing its next generation, the Smartwatch 2 Scallop.


Quoted from the Ubergizmo page, Tuesday (1/9), the Smartwatch 2 Scallop brings more sophisticated features, such as GPS and heart rate monitors. Like other smartwatches from Fossil, this smartwatch runs Wear OS from Google, which provides access to Google Assistant, Google Fit, and Google Play services.

This smart watch also has a water resistance feature that doesn't need to be removed when taking a shower. This clock can even be invited to swim in shallow water.

In addition to GPS and heart rate monitors, it is also equipped with NFC and Bluetooth connections. Another feature is a 300mAh battery with a magnetic charger.

The design aesthetics are very similar to some of the other Kate Spade watches, where the design elements are inspired by thick pastel shells.

The Smartwatch 2 Scallop will be available with a choice of gold and rose gold frames with a 42mm diameter and 16mm strap.

This smartwatch is supported by the 2016 Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 and has a 1.2-inch circular screen. For those who are interested, can order the luxury smartwatch through the Kate Spade website with prices starting at US 295 or around Rp 4.2 million.

Sharp Shows Mirrorless 8K


Sharp showed off its newest product prototype, the 8K mirrorless camera at the 2019 Consumers Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, United States. The camera with the Micro Four Thirds (MFT) sensor format is said to be the cheapest 8K resolution camera in the world.


The price offered by Sharp for the latest camera when released is USD 5,000. If it's finished, it's around Rp. 70 million.

Reporting from Petapixel page, Thursday (10/1), Sharp worked with Foxconn to make this camera. The prototype on display at CES 2019 is capable of recording 8K video with a frame rate of 30fps with the H.265 codec.

Sharp said that it was trying to increase its maximum frame rate at 8K resolution, which reached 60 fps. Another feature that is currently available is in-body image stabilization.

On the back of the camera there is a 5 inch screen that can be rotated, while on the side there is an SD card slot, HDMI port, USB-C, headphone port, mic input, and XLR mini audio port.

If later the price is really USD 5,000, then this camera will become a new benchmark for low-priced cameras. In comparison, Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, MFT format cameras with a maximum resolution of 4K are sold at a price of USD 1,300.

But of course both the design, spec, and price can still change when it is officially released. The release itself is expected to occur in April at the 2019 National Association of Broadcaster (NAB), which is also held in Las Vegas.
